Vu-Do Instructor Clinic.
Saturday, September 09, 2006 at the Harrison Center For The Arts.
Naptown Stomp invited Gus & Jessica Vu, of Vu-Do Swing
Productions in Dayton, Ohio, to come to Indianapolis and conduct a
clinic
on how to teach Swing dancing. The Vues were asked to come since
they have been teaching Swing dancing for over 6 years and have
traveled throughout the country taking Swing dance lessons and clinics
from some of the nation’s top instructors (including Frankie Manning
and his son,
Chaz Young; Sylvia Sykes; Jonathan Bixby; Eric &
Sylvia; Marcus & Barb; Natahlie and Joval, and many others).
Naptown Stomp encourages dancers to share their knowledge and skills
by becoming instructors. Twenty students attended this one day
clinic. Most came from the Indianapolis area, Purdue University
and Indiana University, but some came from LindyLou in Louisville,
Kentucky and SwingOutDayton in Dayton, Ohio. The Harrison Center
For The Arts generously donated the use of their gym so Naptown Stomp
could keep the cost of the workshop as low as possible for the students.

The Vues started the workshop by explaining the philosophy
behind their teaching methods.
